crickets

Ahh... I like the wonderful sound a cricket makes, I know crickets are annoying for you but once you read this post about crickets I am sure you are going to like them.

First, we should understand the appearances of the cricket before we can start these facts about crickets, alright now a cricket has a long antennae it has a round shaped body and it is actually a great jumper and a great runner to.

Now, crickets have strong hind legs like the grasshopper and a tree hopper, but these legs are not only used for jumping and running but for burrowing to, they burrow to make itself a home, well crickets do not only do that, they
may use a human home to hide in cracks.

When crickets look for a mate,

Alright so when crickets look for a mate, they will clean out all the frass(a.k.a bug poo) to make their house look welcoming sometimes if two crickets meet they will start fighting each other some will even fight to the death to get a mate. Some will make sounds to attract a mate.

Are crickets very territorial?

Yes they are, crickets are very territorial if any other cricket enters one crickets territory the cricket will fight back, even when they are together they will fight each other.

The cricket's enemies

The cricket does have lots of enemies that includes praying mantises, birds, spiders, and many more than you can think of.

Spiders also catch crickets to eat, they hunt by grasping it's prey using it's mandibles and injecting poison in it's prey and melts the flesh so it makes it easy for the spider to eat.

Praying mantises can be found in the wild and even in your backyard hiding in the bushes waiting for prey, they also eat crickets too so, if you are interested in keeping praying mantises feed them crickets in your backyard.
Birds eat seeds, bugs, and small inverterbrates, small birds prefer to eat small inverterbrates, small bugs and plant seeds.
This animal here is a common wall lizard that can be found everywhere in your house, they eat insects and eat house crickets, also considered crickets enemy too.
Frogs and toads are amphibians and are carnivores, they will hunt insects and small inverterbrates, if you are keeping toads or frogs you can give them crickets if you can find any.

I'm sure many of you are afraid of rats am I right fellow readers? This one is a fat sewer rat found in many drains, rats will eat anything that come in its way and eat crickets.
Salamanders are amphibians like frogs and I suppose other amphibians, salamander's can be found beside lakes or bought in pet shoppes, they eat small inverterbrates and bugs as its diet.

What you can do with crickets.

You can do many things with a cricket, you can keep one, sell some, farm some or use it as feeder crickets for other pets like mantids and amphibians or other mammals, bugs, and amphibians you keep in your house, you can even fry and barbecue them for consumption, but you still have to properly clean them too.I can show a few pictures for example.
don"these look yummy, the picture on the left is dried crickets and the one on the right is barbecued crickets on a stick.
You can sell these to other people for bait or as feeders for pets.

I guess that is pretty much it for crickets now and do leave a comment or feedback because I would like to know your opinion for this blog.
